Jeremy began playing guitar at the age of 13 in his hometown of Goffstown NH, starting as most teenagers do; playing Rock and Heavy Metal guitar. He attended Keene State College where he discovered and studied the Classical Guitar, studying with Dr. Jose Lezcano and Ted Mann. While in attendance at KSC he also began his study of Jazz guitar, playing in the school Big Band and with numerous Jazz Combos and Studying improvisation with Tenor Saxophonist Scott Mullett. He was awarded the KSC 'Instrumentalist of the Year' award in 2001 and graduated with honors with a degree in Classical Guitar Performance.
In the summer of 2001 Jeremy worked aboard Royal Caribbean's "Enchantment of the Seas" as a guitarist for the show band. During his short contract he performed with many well known acts including the Platters and the Miracles, performing in a wide variety of styles including classic R&B, Jazz, Broadway, Pop, Rock, Country and many others.
In early 2002 Jeremy arrived in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. Since that time he has worked with acts such as Michael Gregory, Bathtub Mary, Leah Randazzo, Celia Miller, David Weidenfeld, Somebody's Closet, the Acheray Ensemble and Phil DaRosa, as well as performing as a freelance Classical and Jazz guitarist and band-leader. In 2008 the 'Jeremy Milligan Quintet' released "Still Moving", a recording of original acoustic instrumental compositions, available on iTunes.
In 2011 Jeremy received his Masters Degree from the prestigious HARTT School of Music at the University of Hartford in West Hartford CT, where he had the great privilege to study with Richard Provost and Christopher Ladd. During his time he performed in masterclasses for Oscar Ghiglia and Ana Vidovic. Jeremy graduated with a degree in Classical Guitar Performance with a specialization in the Suzuki Method of Guitar Instruction.
After receiving his masters Jeremy spent several years teaching Classical and Jazz Guitar as well as Music Theory at Keene State College and Greenfield Community College. In 2016 Jeremy became a licensed public school teacher, teaching K-5 in the City of West Springfield, as well as serving as Band Director for Ware Junior Senior High School in Ware, Massachusetts. He is still a freelance Classical, Jazz and Rock guitarist, performing throughout the Pioneer Valley and greater New England.
